Their picking and shipping team were having difficulties in a critical area; moving inventory from packaging to their trucks. ### Identifying the Challenge Movable shelving on trolley wheels resulted in close calls. With shelves tipping over and blocked wheels coming to a sudden stop. It was clear that a standard rolling wire shelving system, even a heavy-duty one was not going to work. After understanding that a resurfaced floor wasn't an available option, our chief engineer and design team dove deep into the area specifications provided by the client.  Using the warehouse floor plan and photos of the affected areas we put our heads together to solve the problem. ![design2](https://www.simplywireshelving.com/hs-fs/hubfs/design2.png?width=704&height=423&name=design2.png) ### Crafting a Custom Solution through ### Prototyping and Testing An innovative idea led us to design a ceiling-mounted track system, eliminating the need for floor-based trolleys. And bypassing the uneven surface issue. Amazing! But don't speak too soon. We created a mock-up of the warehouse environment and tested the ceiling-mounted track system. Being sure to include ceiling height, room dimensions and the location of their packaging tables and bay doors. We set the room up like their warehouse to the letter. After gathering information about shelf loads, package shapes and access requirements. Such as reaching to pick and load 25 kg in a 40 cm box from shelf to table. We began testing and everything looked good. However, soon the standard track system showed signs of strain under their dense load requirements, leading to bent tracks and stuck bearings. ### Redesign  Realizing hat we needed a more robust system, we went back to the drawing board. Our engineering and design team analyzed and enhanced the structure to handle heavier loads.  By upgrading to thicker, 11 mm guide tracks, stronger bearings, and stainless steel materials we developed a track system capable of withstanding the heavy loads without compromising functionality.  ![WechatIMG14](https://www.simplywireshelving.com/hs-fs/hubfs/WechatIMG14.jpeg?width=795&height=1060&name=WechatIMG14.jpeg) ## On the money To source the improved track system we promptly contacted a local manufacturing partner of ours to provide the stronger track system.  We sent a detailed quote; and presto, after approval from the customer within a month, we manufactured the custom system and it was on the next ship to Canada.
